The Meaning of Ramadan

At Ramadan, Muslims around the world are filled with a variety of emotions: excitement, anxiety, apprehension, and reflection. Ramadan can mean different things to different people. For some, it is a time of blessings and forgiveness, and for others, it is a time to be closer to Allah.

Using Ramadan-themed post-it notes and a bulletin board at the NYU Abu Dhabi Campus Center, we asked members of the University community to share their feelings to this question: "What does Ramadan mean to you?" and collected some of their responses for this photo gallery.
