Student Research Help
Connect with NYUAD librarians with research expertise in your field of study
Whether you’re starting your first-year writing project or tackling your Capstone, research librarians are here to support you at every stage of your NYUAD journey.
Get to know the librarian in your subject area as they’ll support you to find, evaluate, and use information effectively across your fields of study.
One-on-One Research Support
Research librarians can help you to:
Approach research as a process of exploring ideas, identifying questions, and discovering information through strategic searching
Discover and evaluate different kinds of sources, including scholarly, popular, professional, primary, and secondary
Understand how ideas grow as researchers build on each other’s work, analyze the arguments in your sources, and learn how to contribute your own voice to the discussion
Use information ethically by citing sources, giving credit, and avoiding plagiarism
Recognize how generative AI and algorithms shape the information you find online
Archives and Special Collections
Archives and Special Collections are open to all NYUAD students. The collection provides access to rare and unique primary source materials that explore the social, cultural, and historical contexts of the UAE, the Gulf, and the surrounding region.
Working with primary source materials such as rare books, posters, letters, diaries, and maps helps you connect directly with the people and events of the past. These sources strengthen research skills by encouraging you to question, interpret, and analyze evidence and the knowledge collected across different time periods in history. Archivists in the department are resources for students who have questions about archival management, public history, heritage and oral history methods.
Archives and Special Collections is also home to the undergraduate Capstone Archives, which is managed as part of the NYUAD University Archives.
Find details about the collections, how to plan your visit, and what to expect on the Archives and Special Collections webpage.
