Streaming Services
In general, popular streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime do not grant rights for institutional or educational use. The Library cannot provide access to these services for classroom use.
Physical Formats
The Library provides access to a collection of physical formats (DVD, Blu Ray) of films that support the curriculum. Faculty and instructors may schedule a loan to ensure the physical format is available for their course.
Supported Streaming Services
The Library provides access to academic streaming services such as Kanopy Streaming, Alexander Street Press, and Swank Digital Campus. These resources are supported in classrooms by the Academic Technology Team (nyuad.academictech@nyu.edu).
Request Specific Films
If a specific film is required as course material and is not already part of the physical or electronic collections, please contact nyuad-acquisitions-group@nyu.edu as soon as possible. Depending on availability, film acquisition requests will take a minimum of two weeks or longer to fulfill.
One-time Documentary Screenings
Providers, such as Netflix, offer one-time educational screenings of documentaries. These single-use screenings must be arranged by the faculty’s department or another entity on campus because the Library’s policy is to direct funds towards the development of the permanent collection.
