Parents and Families

Parents and families play an important role at NYU Abu Dhabi. Your support and partnership are essential to students’ success in and out of the classroom. Classroom learning is only a part of your student’s college experience and there are many student communities, activities, and seminars that your student will participate in through their four years culminating in Commencement.

Communication with your student is essential for a successful college experience. We encourage parents and families to reach out to their student regularly, while still providing them with the space to forge new connections and relationships with peers and advisors. As your student goes through Marhaba week (orientation) and settles into NYUAD, they will often have many of the answers to your questions about their experience. Parents will also periodically receive newsletters via email with updates about campus activities and programs.

During your student’s final year, we host a series of events immediately prior to Commencement called Ma'a Salama Week in which parents and families can come together to celebrate the success and achievements of the graduating class. Ma’a Salama traditionally includes campus-based events, facilitated off-campus activities, and passive programming for students and their families to attend as per their own schedule leading up to the commencement ceremony.
