My name is Keita and I am one of the few Latvians that study at NYU Abu Dhabi. Currently a rising junior, I am expected to graduate with a BA in Political Science in 2021.
For my summer internship this year I am working with the Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations in New York. My responsibilities include supporting the Mission in all affairs tied to representing my country in the United Nations. This ranges from simple administrative tasks to accompanying my Ambassador to multilateral meetings and being in correspondence with the capital about political developments. This experience has taught me many lessons, one of the main ones being to trust myself and my abilities.
The education and experiences we have obtained in NYUAD are unique, despite them often feeling ordinary in conversations with fellow students, who are also doing amazing things around the world. I found that stemming inspiration and lessons from my experiences around the world has helped me to make more informed judgements and attach more substance to my contributions to the work in the Mission.
Any advice?
My advice to others would be to be more confident in their achievements and stem confidence from their experiences. These are, after all, very unique!
