Music Minor

The NYUAD Music Program offers students the flexibility to explore diverse musical traditions, theories, and practices while developing critical and creative skills. The integration of music studies with liberal arts education enhances the opportunity for cross-disciplinary exploration, fostering connections to fields as varied as computer science, history, and psychology.

The minor in Music is open to all students who wish to deepen their understanding of music as creative practice, scholarly inquiry, and cultural expression. Students pursue coursework aligned with their interests and goals, and may choose between a scholarly pathway focused on writing and research, a creative pathway focused on sonic art and music production, or some combination of the two. As music intersects with virtually every dimension of human experience — from social movements and technological innovation to cognition and ritual — the minor serves as a complementary field of study to disciplines in Social Science, Arts and Humanities, Science, and Engineering.
