Academic Resource Center

The John Sexton and Lisa Goldberg Academic Resource Center’s advising team supports students in meeting their academic goals. Academic Advisors utilize a student centered approach and developmental advising strategies to help new and continuing students succeed through to graduation.

Academic advising is an essential resource in a globally diverse environment where students come with varied educational backgrounds and experiences. Having access to consistent and reliable information and building academic planning competencies, ensures that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions.

Advisors provide a variety of support, including, but not limited to,

  • Academic planning
  • Navigating degree requirement
  • Course enrollment
  • Choosing a major
  • Understanding academic policies
  • Accessing resources on campus
  • Connecting with faculty and departments
  • Monitoring degree progress
  • Outreach and intervention
  • Academic problem solving

Advisors meet with students individually or in groups using a holistic approach in understanding students' needs. They can also connect students with additional resources on campus, as needed, to help them throughout their academic career.
