Goksu Aslan is an Instructor of Economics. Her research interests revolve around economic growth, income inequality, financial inclusion, and gender inequality. She holds a BA degree in Econometrics, an MSc degree in Statistics, and a PhD degree in Economics Methods. During her PhD, she had been a summer intern as part of the Fund Internship Program (FIP) at the African Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) where she worked on the research project titled “Gender inequality in financial access and macroeconomic outcomes” with a particular focus on sub-Saharan Africa. She has also completed the Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy Research at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Before joining NYUAD, she was an Associate Economic Affairs Officer at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific South and South-West Asia Office (UNESCAP-SSWA) on promoting regional cooperation for inclusive and sustainable economic and social development in South and South-West Asia and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Milano-Bicocca. Following her BA degree, she also had a couple of years of private sector experience including her one-year banking experience at Garanti Bank International Business Development Department.

Goksu is also a competitive rowing athlete and a certified coach who has been rowing and competing for 22 years nationally and internationally. She has several national and regional titles in Turkiye, Italy, and United Arab Emirates. She is a national record holder, and World Rowing Championships finalist.
