Engineering Community Engagement
The Engineering Division at NYU Abu Dhabi is committed to fostering a vibrant community built on collaboration, communication, engagement, and growth. Through the Engineering Community Engagement Committee, we value an environment where ideas are heard and welcomed, where individuals support one another’s development, and where all members can contribute meaningfully to shared goals. Our collective aim is to create a setting where people thrive both personally and professionally, and where respect, openness, and mutual support are integral to our daily interactions.
A genuine source of creativity and innovation at our division comes from the breadth of experiences, knowledge, and perspectives of its members. Our students, researchers, administrators, instructors, and faculty come together from around the world. These best minds join forces to advance technologies, support the global economy, and contribute to building a better future. We see the variety of backgrounds and expertise within our community as an invaluable strength that nurtures respect and promotes collaborative innovation. Within engineering, we embrace the exchange of ideas and recognize it as essential for educating the next generation of engineers and global leaders.

Our goal is to be a connected and supportive community that values collaboration, open communication, and shared growth. We believe that excellence and innovation are best achieved when individuals engage with one another, exchange ideas, and contribute their strengths toward common goals. As an academic division, our overarching aim is to embed these values into the daily life of engineers through education, research, practice, and professional activities. Consequently, we set the following priorities to achieve our vision:
Priorities
- Strengthening awareness of the importance of community, engagement, and collaboration in engineering.
- Building strong networks and partnerships to enrich recruitment, research, and academic opportunities.
- Supporting the growth of individuals by providing opportunities for professional and personal development.

Our Events
"All Engineering Getting Together" – AEGT
The “All Engineering Getting Together” (AEGT) is an annual agenda-free academic gathering for all members of the Engineering community. The event brings together undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, faculty, instructors, and staff. The main goal of this gathering is to strengthen connections across the Engineering community, foster collaboration, and encourage meaningful engagement. Participants will have the chance to meet new colleagues and friends over food and drinks, creating opportunities for communication, networking, and shared growth within our professional community.
The Engineering Get-Together Initiative
The initiative of “Engineering Get-Together” at the NYUAD’s Engineering Division aims to bring the community of each engineering program together every semester. Each program’s community, including undergraduate students, graduate students, researchers, staff, instructors, and faculty, will be invited for a social gathering and agenda-free meeting that lasts 1-2 hours. The ultimate goal of this focused activity is to create a strong sense of belonging within each program’s community, by getting to know each other and participating in fun activities.
Women in Engineering (WiE)
The Women in Engineering (WiE) group at NYU Abu Dhabi organize a series of events and activities designed to strengthen community, foster collaboration, and encourage engagement across the engineering division. Throughout the year, WiE brings together faculty, instructors, undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and administrators to connect with colleagues, share experiences, and build meaningful professional and social relationships. These gatherings and initiatives create opportunities for communication, growth, and collaboration across the engineering community.
Engineering Community Engagement Seminar Series
We are devoted to educating our community—the leaders of tomorrow—on how the values of collaboration, communication, and shared growth can be integrated into daily life through education, practices, and professional activities. We host monthly seminars, held virtually, throughout the academic year. In addition, special in-person seminars take place at selected times during the year.
NYUAD Early Engineers Research Forum
The Early Engineers Research Forum (EERF) is a platform for early researchers within NYUAD Engineering to present their work, share ideas, get feedback on their work, and most importantly connect and collaborate with other researchers. The forum organizes a series of seminars presented by fellow members of the NYUAD Engineering community including researchers, postdocs, and PhD students. The EERF is for and by engineering researchers, and the entire community is welcome to attend.
