Folker de Witte is a Visiting Lecturer of the Legal Studies Major in the Social Sciences Division at NYU Abu Dhabi. He is also a part-time Assistant Professor at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (European University Institute), where he works in the Savings and Investment Union Lab at the Florence School of Banking and Finance, conducting research on sustainable finance regulation and contributing to the development of executive training programs.
His field of expertise is financial markets regulation, with a specialization in sustainable finance and transition finance. Before joining NYUAD, he worked as a Policy Advisor in the Financial Markets Policy Directorate at the Dutch Ministry of Finance, where he represented the Netherlands as lead expert in the Council of the EU and was a member of the Sustainable Finance Expert Group.
He obtained his PhD in law from the European University Institute based on his thesis entitled Decoding EU Disclosure Regulation on Retail Investment Products. He holds two LLMs in Legal Research (Groningen University) and Comparative, European and International Law (European University Institute) and an LLB in law (Utrecht University).
