Amir Minsky
Assistant Teaching Professor of History

Amir Minsky specializes in modern European intellectual history. His research interests include the Franco-German intellectual and cultural exchange during the Revolutionary Era (1750-1850), the transnational history of emotions in late 18th and 19th-century Europe, and print and popular culture of the German Enlightenment.
Minsky has published work on German travelogues of post-revolutionary France, the French revolutionary and Napoleonic administration in the Rhineland, and the sentimentalized concept of liberty in the political philosophy of the German Enlightenment. He is currently completing a book manuscript entitled The Rise and Fall of German Political Sentimentalism, 1780-1848.
Minsky is the recipient of grants and fellowships from the University of Pennsylvania, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Doris G. Quinn Foundation, the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC, and the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin.
