The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides legal services to NYU Abu Dhabi, supporting the university’s research and academic mission and all of its operations. 

Leader Profile

Fletcher serves as the General Counsel of NYU Abu Dhabi. He has spent more than two decades managing legal and compliance matters and advising on strategic and governance issues at universities in the US and the Middle East. In addition to serving as Associate General Counsel at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at NC State University, he was general counsel at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia. Fletcher also worked in business and operating roles at an early-stage venture capital firm and a nonprofit drug development company and was an associate in the DC office of the international law firm Steptoe & Johnson. Fletcher attended Davidson College in North Carolina, USA, and obtained his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, at American University in Washington, DC. He also has a master’s degree in Spanish American literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar Association.
