External Relations at NYU Abu Dhabi facilitate communication, connection, and engagement within and beyond the University community, to strengthen and enhance the NYU Abu Dhabi reputation and brand while advancing the university’s strategic mission and vision.

We help students, faculty, researchers, and staff to tell their stories, execute events, and engage with diverse audiences.

Through compelling internal and external communications, ceremonies and events, supporting external partners and programs, and purposeful connections with the community, each area is helping to foster greater awareness and engagement, advancing NYU Abu Dhabi’s reach and relationships locally and globally.

Leader Profile

Martin Mbugua leads the Office of External Relations in articulating and defining the unique distinctiveness of NYU Abu Dhabi, raising the University's profile as a new model of higher education, and fostering its reputation globally. Martin joined NYUAD in 2021 with over 20 years of experience in the development and implementation of strategic communications and marketing plans, media and external relations, internal communications, brand management, and journalism. He previously worked in communications and marketing at institutions of higher learning, including Princeton University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Skidmore College. Prior to that he was a reporter for the New York Daily News and other publications.
