The Office of Academic Resource Management and Fiscal Affairs supports the Provost, Deans, Vice Provosts, and other academic and administrative leaders in their budget and financial resource planning. It provides strategic recommendations and supporting analytics related to finances and resources associated with the academic and research mission of the University. The Office is also responsible for the establishment and communication of effective sponsored program administration policies and procedures.
Kennedy Kanyang’onda joined NYU Abu Dhabi in 2025 as Head of Academic Resource Management and Fiscal Affairs. In this role, he oversees the financial and resource planning for the Office of the Provost and its academic and research units, including budget development, financial operations, research funding administration, and compliance. He serves as a strategic advisor to senior academic leadership, aligning resource allocation and fiscal operations with NYUAD’s academic mission and long-term priorities.
Kennedy brings more than 12 years of experience in higher education administration, specialising in fiscal strategy, academic operations, and institutional planning. Prior to joining NYUAD, he served as Associate Director of Administration and Operations in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University, one of Canada’s leading research institutions. During his time at McGill, he supported complex academic units through periods of growth and transformation, driving operational efficiency and implementing innovative financial practices.
He previously held the role of Associate Director of Academic Appointments at NYUAD, contributing to the development of academic administrative structures. Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Business Management from McGill University. His background in technical training and business strategy informs his analytical and solutions-oriented approach to financial planning and academic resource management.
