I am delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Christensen as NYU Abu Dhabi’s new Chief Administrative and Business Officer (CABO) effective November 1.
Although Peter has been assisting with the transition as I have taken on the role of Vice Chancellor, this appointment marks his more enduring return to NYU Abu Dhabi. I am thrilled to welcome him back into our community as the senior administrative and financial management officer for the institution.
The search for this position included input from across the University, and attracted a number of exceptionally strong candidates. The caliber of applicants speaks to the importance of this role and its potential in supporting NYU Abu Dhabi’s continued growth into a university of remarkable education and research quality.
As CABO, Peter will ensure there is a sound and effective administration in place for the institution. He will also be the primary liaison for administrative and financial services between NYUAD and NYU in New York, retaining his secondary title as Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives. He also will continue his valued role in the governance structure of our NYUAD and Abu Dhabi partnership.
Peter has a rich and deep history within and across our global university. As many within our community will remember, he held a number of positions within NYU Abu Dhabi, starting as Senior Director for Finance and Administration in 2008 and more recently serving as Associate Vice Chancellor, Finance and Operations until December 2017. It was in these capacities that I first worked closely with Peter over a decade ago, and that he played a central role in envisioning and developing NYUAD. With his fundamentally collaborative approach, he established the financial and operational functions critical to supporting the educational and research mission of the University, while also forging strong linkages with our Abu Dhabi partners and strengthening ties with colleagues in New York.
