Dear Members of the NYU Abu Dhabi Community,
Yesterday, New York University announced the appointment of Linda Mills as its 17th president. This news fills me with excitement and confidence for the future of our entire global university and of NYU Abu Dhabi.
Many of you have met Linda over the years in her current role as Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Provost for Global Programs and University Life. In this position, and before then as Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Linda played a crucial role in the establishment of NYUAD, particularly in the development of our innovative admissions process and structuring of our robust student affairs and campus life programs. At NYU she created The Reality Show, and then brought its distinctive NYUAD version, The Real AD Show, to life in our first year of opening. Linda’s husband Peter Goodrich is a valued visiting professor in our Legal Studies program.
With its selection of Linda Mills, NYU’s Board of Trustees has ensured the continuity of NYU’s astounding trajectory as a global university that has a prominent presence in 15 sites around the world. Many universities claim to be global and local: NYU truly is. Linda has been at the heart of these developments since 2002, when I first met her in our university leadership team upon my arrival at NYU. She is a frequent visitor to our campus, and we look forward to welcoming her back often in the months and years ahead.
