New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Assistant Director, NYUAD Financial Aid reporting to the Executive Director, Recruitment, Admissions and Financial Aid.

As a member of the Global Financial Aid Team based in Abu Dhabi, the Assistant Director, NYUAD Financial Aid will collaborate and coordinate with the Office of Financial Aid, the Global Financial Aid team in New York as well as the Executive Director of Admissions, Recruitment and Financial Aid at NYU Abu Dhabi around the planning and implementation of relevant NYUAD initiatives involving student financial aid.

The Assistant Director will report to the Associate Director, Global Financial Aid, based in New York. This role will advise prospective applicants and currently enrolled students on the financial aid application process, university policies and procedures, and collaborate with the NYU team on the evaluation of financial aid application. The Assistant Director will work closely with partners both on campus in Abu Dhabi and in New York, ensuring that financial aid initiatives are well-integrated and support NYUAD.

The Assistant Director works collaboratively with the Office of Financial Aid and the Global Financial Aid team at NYU’s Global Enrollment Management and Student Success department based in New York, and the NYU Abu Dhabi Undergraduate Admissions Office to support NYUAD’s strategic enrollment goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising prospective applicants, applicants, admitted students, currently enrolled students, and parents on the financial aid application process, University policies and procedures, and assisting them with resolving financial aid-related inquiries
  • Collaborate with the NYU team on the evaluation of financial aid applications and the determination of amount/configuration of aid packages for students entering the University at NYUAD
  • Consult with various University offices (Admissions, Registrar, Bursar, Student Affairs, etc.) both at NYUAD and on the NYUNY campus, as well as involve external agencies as needed for processing related to financial aid
  • Administer and coordinate effective quality controls and suggest modifications to achieve high-quality, student service delivery for all service channels (counter, phones, internet, etc.)
  • Advise both the Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid and Executive Director of Admissions, Recruitment and Financial Aid, on strategic planning around the delivery of financial aid to both the undergraduate and graduate students in Abu Dhabi
  • Coordinate and infuse financial education in on-campus programming or other types of communication with students that address challenges unique to the Abu Dhabi student experience, but also aligns with basic principles of NYU. This will include financial education and planning for study away, as well as how to plan for a successful financial transition after NYUAD
  • Work with the Graduate Admissions office to provide necessary support for Graduate Students by packaging and providing financial aid counseling
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all NYU policies and any respective national regulations
  • In consultation with the Assistant Vice President and the Executive Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, assist with ensuring timely reporting and accurate reporting
  • Present financial education workshops to current and prospective students
  • Participate and contribute to daily operations of the NYU Abu Dhabi Admissions office, as needed
  • Meet with and advise prospective applicants, applicants, admitted students, and currently enrolled students, and parents on the financial aid application process, University policies and procedures, and assist them with resolving problems
  • Counsel applicants, students, and families through email, phone calls, virtual appointments, and in-person advising
  • Act as first-point of contact for NYU Abu Dhabi students on campus via the Admissions Office, Service Centre or other locations as needed
  • Work with NYUAD Finance Team to ensure consistent messaging around financial aid packaging
  • Represent Office of Financial at NYUAD campus; train and support staff on financial aid queries at the Service Centre
  • Work with key stakeholders on campus to promote financial education
  • Attend workshops concerning financial literacy as it pertains to current undergraduate students and recent graduates
  • Develop and host on campus workshops
  • Conduct Financial Education sessions for undergraduate/graduate population
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the AVP for Financial Aid, Executive Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, and others, around institutional priorities
  • Evaluate student financial aid packages
  • Assist with financial aid packaging for incoming and returning students
  • Coordinate the financial aid appeal process for NYUAD
  • Responsible for the collection of aid application data and assisting with the need-based evaluation
  • Coordinate the file review and file validation process for NYUAD applicants
  • Ensuring compliance with NYU policy and regulations
  • Remain knowledgeable around US Federal Financial aid compliance
  • Consult with both NYUAD and NYU NY to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Review NYUAD financial aid data to ensure accuracy, evaluate efficacy of outreach activities, and suggest areas for improvement
  • In partnership with the Office of Financial Aid and the Global Financial Aid team, help develop reports to inform NYUAD financial aid initiatives
  • Support On campus events such as Counselor Programs, Candidate Weekend, Open House, etc. to provide information about NYUAD financial aid
  • Support recruitment activities with the NYUAD office of undergraduate admission

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years Experience with secondary education, university advising, and/or financial aid systems
  • Excellent communications skills in English (spoken, written)
  • Excellent presentation skills

Preferred Education:

  • Master's Degree
  • Training related to US federal financial Aid
  • Training related to US Higher Education

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years Personal or work experience related to US financial aid
  • 3+ years of experience in university admissions to US liberal arts style programs, experience with secondary education, university advising, or international education
  • Personal or professional familiarity with US higher education system and admissions process, in particular the liberal arts and holistic admissions process
  • Knowledge of financial aid in the United States
