New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Student Life Coordinator reporting to the Associate Director for Student Engagement and Leadership Development.
The Student Life Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Student Engagement and Leadership Development, under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, to develop a well-coordinated set of initiatives that advance NYUAD’s broader educational mission, including on matters related to student engagement, student activities and leadership development. This position works closely with other areas and Student Affairs colleagues to develop a framework for student engagement, and is an active and collaborative member of Student Life supporting a wider range of Student Life initiatives and programs.
The Coordinator is dedicated to developing and supporting student activities, student interest groups (SIGs), Student Government, and student-led debate team travel, among others. The Coordinator plays an active role in the creation and delivery of programming for all students, including SIG event planning guidance, support for hallmark community and SIG programming, SIG e-board team dynamics, among others. The incumbent is also responsible for start-of-semester activation and end-of-semester transition for all SIGs including budget review, leadership selection, and experience surveys.
This position will track budget allocation and spending for Student Interest Groups and Student Activities, and also track Student Government and Debate budgets, while managing oversight for all disbursement and financial reconciliations to these groups. The Coordinator will support logistics for the Debate team travel in their yearly programming including competition planning, and logistics. This position will also support the Student Government in coordinating their operations and logistics.
This position involves evening and weekend commitments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinating Logistics for Student Interest Group (SIG) Programming
- Coordinate programming, operations, and the budget allocation process for student activities, 50+ student clubs, student-led conferences, and team-based student travel for 300+ events
- Oversee the effective coordination of programming led by Student Interest Groups
- Manage SIG presence on the Engage Student Interest Group (SIG) platform
- Manage SIG email aliases for all groups
- Oversee the budget allocation process for 50+ student groups with Student Government designee
- SIG office hours coordination with the Student Life Peer Leaders
- Hiring and supervising 1-2 A/V support student assistants for student events as needed, and coordinating large scale events with university A/V team and space management teams
- Maintaining AV equipment that can be used by SIGs
- Coordinate start and end of semester processes for SIGs ensuring transition and continuity
- Meet and work with students about SIG-related questions and concerns, and executive board members. Referring students for further staff support and incorporating conflict management, IDBE, intercultural, and wellbeing related resources
- Provide advising and training on Hallmark SIG events in collaboration with SLICECT
- Supporting the hiring and onboarding of Student Life Peer Leaders
- Supporting logistics for the semesterly Student Life Fest
- Managing Financial Processes relating to Student Activities
- Supervising all student activities related finance processes -- including reimbursement process through petty cash funding and p-card reconciliation
- Executing logistics for the Debate program including coordinating payment for all travel, uploads to student prepaid cards, and reimbursements after the travel
- Executing UAE compliance education and incident follow up for SIG events
- Work with sensitive student groups to adjust programming, activities, communications, and planning, according to institutional needs in alignment with UAE laws and regulations
- Coordinate with student groups to quickly implement changes in alignment with guidance from university leadership
- Build relationships with student groups for consensus-building
- Counsel students through challenges associated with these changes as they tie to identity groups
- Student Government Advising, Logistics and Operations Support
- Oversight of programming organized by student government e-board, programming board, and committees
- Coordinate oversight and distribution of the student government budget including reconciliation
- Advise and coordinate the Student Government and SIG Executive Board cycle of elections
- Coordinate their presence on NYU Engage, student portal, and email communications sent on behalf of the Student Government
- Other divisional and institutional duties as assigned
Required Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Education, Student Affairs, Social Sciences or a related field
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in a related field
- Experience of administrative and project management involving student programs, and/or student development and success programs, preferably at a small liberal arts institution
- Experience managing and working with student data and event management platforms
- Ability to work with faculty, administrators, students and parents
- Organized, detail-oriented, and creative
- Excellent public speaking and written presentation skills
- Knowledge of the developmental issues affecting university students
- Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles, educational backgrounds, and communication styles
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Engage, Canva. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to manage student data
Preferred Education:
- Masters in Education, Social Sciences or related field
Preferred Experience:
- Ability to facilitate dialogue
- Familiarity with social media and myEmma
