New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Program Manager, Gates Foundation reporting to the Principal Investigator.

The Program Manager will oversee and manage research and grants management projects in the UAE, which will involve both UAE economic research and work on technology, weather, and digital advances for smallholder agriculture in Africa. The candidate will analyze financial expenditures and make recommendations on spending and budget projections; provide oversight on financial transactions and grant compliance; and serve as a liaison between the department, central University Offices, and private foundations regarding externally funded grants. The Program Manager will work on research and programs for the department. The Program Manager will play an integral role in supporting the research efforts and event planning for the department’s projects. The Program Manager will help plan, initiate, coordinate, and ensure the smooth promotion, implementation, and overall operation of programmatic and research activities, as well as communication with all participants and the university community, and ensure University standards and guidelines are maintained.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the PI to oversee and manage research and grants management projects that involve both UAE economic research and work on technology, weather, digital advances for smallholder agriculture in Africa
  • Manage event coordination and meeting/conference planning to ensure the smooth promotion, implementation, and overall operation of programmatic and research activities. Interface with international consultants and convene technical and committee meetings several times per year; including overseeing travel arrangements, hotel bookings, speaker honoraria, and budget management related to these programs
  • Act as a liaison between the department, central University Offices, and the Gates Foundation regarding the externally funded grant
  • Analyze financial expenditures and make recommendations on spending and budget projections and provide oversight on financial transactions and grant compliance

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics or a related field

Preferred Education: 

  • Master's Degree in Economics or a related field

Required Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience working on similar programs and projects
  • Knowledge of work on Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) and field work 
  • Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards
