New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Manager, Audio Visual Projects and Innovations reporting to Assistant Director, Audio Visual Services.
NYUAD Audio Visual Services (AV) represents a dynamic ecosystem enabling powerful multimedia communication and immersive experiences. Encompassing everything from high-fidelity cinematic productions to dynamic video conferencing solutions, AV bridges the gap between information delivery and audience engagement.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Audio Visual Services, the Manager, of AV Projects & Innovation is responsible for overseeing and managing the execution of advanced AV projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Daily duties involve leading a team of AV engineers and programmers, coordinating their activities, and providing expert guidance on complex AV systems design and integration. The Manager will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners, to ensure the successful implementation of innovative AV solutions that meet the needs of the university. The role will also require management of lifecycle projects, from initial planning and design to final installation and integration, while maintaining accurate project documentation and reporting.
In addition to project delivery, the role will be responsible for providing Tier 3 SME infrastructure and architecture support for AV systems across the campus. This includes managing AV commissioning and programming for new installations, maintaining existing systems, and developing new programming code and proof of concept testing for new facilities. The role is also expected to manage the integration of AV systems with external platforms such as Building Management Systems, room scheduling services, and service management framework applications. Additionally daily duties will also involve developing and managing bespoke software tools and applications to support infrastructure and business workflows, ensuring that the team delivers high-quality solutions and support to the university community.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Advanced AV Projects
- Lead the execution of complex AV projects from initial planning and design to final installation and integration
- Develop project charters, scopes, concept designs, and budgets. Oversee the selection of appropriate technologies, equipment specifications, and programming requirements. Develop custom applications and programming code to ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure and maximum user interaction at all levels of skill
- Enhance the technological capabilities and usability of classrooms, conference rooms, and other specialized spaces across the campus, ensuring they meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students
Manage and Develop Team
- Lead a team of three AV (design engineer and programmers), ensuring high performance and professional growth
- Assign tasks based on expertise, provide training and development opportunities, conduct performance reviews, and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality AV solutions and support, contributing to the overall success of AV projects and initiatives
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with IT management, faculty, staff, leadership and external partners to align AV initiatives with the university’s strategic goals
- Engage in regular meetings, provide updates on project progress, and obtain necessary approvals for significant changes or investments
- Ensure that AV projects and solutions meet the needs and expectations of all stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making and strategic planning
Provide Tier 3 SME Support
- Offer SME expert-level support and troubleshooting for AV systems across campus
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, provide guidance to Tier 1 & 2 support team. Provide advanced commissioning support and develop and manage programming code for new and existing AV systems
- To ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency for academic and administrative functions, maintaining the reliability of AV infrastructure and services
Develop and Maintain Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate project documentation and provide comprehensive reports on AV innovation, design, project progress, and resource utilization
- Use the NYUAD service ticket system and other documentation and development tools to track project changes, integration and asset management. Produce reports as per university standards
- Support informed decision-making and strategic planning by IT management, ensuring transparency and accountability in AV project execution
Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
Preferred Education:
- Master's Degree in Crestron, Dante, or similar AV technologies
- IPAF Certification (1a, 1b, 3a, or 3b)
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in AV technology, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget
- Extensive experience with project planning, execution, and monitoring in the context of AV and IT infrastructure projects

Exceptional English written and oral communication skills, able to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of developing innovative solutions.
Proven leadership and team management capabilities
Highly skilled in using Windows, Mac OS, and Linux system
Programming / Development
