NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an University Sports Teams Coordinator reporting to the Director of Athletics.

The role involves providing comprehensive support to the successful operation of University Sports Teams within the Department of Athletics. This support encompasses general administrative tasks that enable sports teams to actively engage and compete with other universities or community groups within Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Key responsibilities include supporting the organization of fixtures and competitions, maintaining communication with students and stakeholders, reviewing team rosters, overseeing team logistics, and monitoring budgets and finances. The post holder will serve as one of the primary representatives at university sports events, and will also assist in upholding environmental, health, and safety policies, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and emergency response procedures. Furthermore, the post holder will play a supporting role in Team Coach recruitment, continually offering support to Team Coaches and their teams.

The post holder will ensure the promotion of activities through various platforms, including social media, internal, and external websites and may be required to collaborate with the NYUAD External Relations team. Additionally, the post holder is expected to teach at least one Physical and Health Education course per semester. Occasionally, the coordinator may be called upon to support the broader functions of the Student Affairs division. Please note that this position may require evening and weekend commitments during the academic year. It's essential to acknowledge that the duties of this role may, at times, involve access to sensitive data, necessitating the utmost confidentiality.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Duties; General administrative support in the development and organization of the University Sports Schedule including fixtures, tournaments and events
  • Oversees space booking requirements and requests, organizes travel logistics and equipment needs and monitors and maintains records and materials accurately according to relevant policies and processes
  • Effectively contributes to the department’s calendars and scheduling documentation alongside the departments booking and reservation system and other utilized software functionality
  • Also supports the organization of Coach/ Instructor training and development. Provides general administrative support that ensures efficient operations
  • Promotion and communication; The position will support the flow of information through the department, student-athletes, coaches, NYUAD stakeholders and external peers, partners and stakeholders through general communications such as emails and other materials such as infographics and presentations
  • Data analysis and reporting; Using new and existing data sources, conduct data analysis in order to create comprehensive reports and presentations demonstrating the areas significant impact which can also be used to guide future work, generate opportunity for future collaborations and can be shared with stakeholders. The post holder will also support the collection of student-athlete and coach feedback
  • Coaching/ Instruction: Teach a minimum of one Physical and Health Education course per semester, including curriculum development, preparation of lesson plans, monitoring of student attendance and participation and recording attendance and general communications
  • Finance; support day to day University Sports Team budget tracking, vendor management and payment
  • Serve as an active contributor to University and Student Affairs Division-wide programs, including admissions events, new student orientation, student leadership training, athletic instructor and coaching programs, and more

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a sports related field (sports administration, sports management, recreation management, sports studies, etc.) or undergraduate degree with prior work experience in a similar role
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or the ability to secure certifications before start of work.

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years Extensive knowledge of and/or experience in intercollegiate athletics
  • Experience in a high school/collegiate athletic environment with a commitment to the integration of athletics and academics
  • Experience in coaching or equivalent experience (ie. club coaching or instructing)

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a sports related field (sports administration, sports management, recreation management, sports studies)
  • Coaching and/or teaching certifications

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years experience working in a sports organization coordinating programs
  • A passion for sports
  • Ability to contribute to sports and recreational programs that are inclusive, innovative and increase well-being for students and the community
  • Ability to engage with a diverse student population
  • Passion for technical sports skills and match play
