Research Summary

VRI Project

Committing to sustainability, Abu Dhabi aspires to be an international hub for renewable energy and sustainable technologies. The proposed VRI aims to partner with industry, academia, and government,  to develop advanced renewable energy and sustainable technologies that can pave the way to modernize Abu Dhabi’s electrical power infrastructure, ensuring its stability, preserving reliability, and meeting economic objectives with a high level of flexibility. The core R&D efforts of the proposed “VRI for Sustainable Energy Production, Storage, and Utilization” cover cutting-edge technologies spanning areas of sustainable power generation, energy storage, renewable energy integration, smart grid, and demand-side energy efficiency that are important to Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development. In collaboration with VRI’s partners, a renewable integrated, sustainable power infrastructure for Abu Dhabi has been envisioned
