Workshop 2: Narrative writing - How to craft a story | 2-4pm

This workshop teaches participants the fundamentals of narrative and its power in effective communication. We discuss and apply several principles that enhance academic storytelling in this particular setting. Through interactive and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to better construct their three-minute thesis presentations through strong narrative fundamentals.

Workshop 4: Adapting Your Presentation to Different Mediums | 2-4pm
Register

This workshop addresses how to adapt your speech to suit the venue, occasion, and audience. We will also discuss visual aids, how to use them to supplement your delivery, and what to do and what not to do in slide design. Through guiding principles and bespoke feedback, you will learn how to tailor your content, language, and visuals to effectively engage your audience.

A chance for our GradSlam Finalists to meet with our coaches for a 1:1 session to refine their three-minute presentation. Finalists will be able to book a 30-minute session.

Workshop 5: Loosening Up and In-Person Rehearsals for Finalists | 2-5pm
Register

Finalists of GradSlam 2024 will learn about speech anxiety and stage fright and practice skills to overcome them alongside having the chance to rehearse your actual presentation and get feedback before the final competition.
