The WGAPE research workshop brings together faculty and graduate students in the social sciences that combine field research experience in Africa with training in quantitative political economy methods. Co-led by Daniel Posner (Political Science, UCLA), Edward Miguel (Economics, UC Berkeley), and Brian Dillon (Evans School of Public Affairs, University of Washington), WGAPE was founded over 10 years ago at UCLA, where it still meets twice annually.
Additional WGAPE meetings are held regularly in New York, Boston, and Chicago, along with the original West Coast meeting. WGAPE is built around in-depth discussions of working papers and research designs that are circulated and read in advance. WGAPE provides an unparalleled opportunity for useful feedback.
