Gopinathan Janarthanan is a Research Scientist at New York University Abu Dhabi, specializing in 3D bioprinting, biofabrication, additive manufacturing, and advanced biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. He holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, an MTech in Medical Nanotechnology focused on biomaterials and tissue engineering, and a PhD in Nanoscience and Technology centered on human knee meniscus tissue engineering. He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) and gained industry experience at EcoWorld Pharm Co., Ltd., South Korea, before joining NYU Abu Dhabi.
Janarthanan's research focuses on multifunctional bioinks, dynamically crosslinked hydrogels, and adaptive bioprinting technologies that improve printing fidelity and biological performance for regenerative scaffolds and in vitro tissue models. He has authored peer-reviewed publications in journals including Advanced Functional Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, Additive Manufacturing, and Biofabrication.
Janarthanan holds an active innovation portfolio with more than ten patents filed during his research work in Korea (including two PCT filings), several of which have reached commercialization, along with recent intellectual property disclosures at NYU Abu Dhabi related to bioink technologies and adaptive bioprinting systems.
