Duoaa Khalifa holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (top of class) from the University of Sharjah, UAE. She then joined the workforce, particularly the transportation sector in the UAE, as a traffic engineer. Khalifa then pursued a Master of Science in Computing and Information Science. She received her degree from Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE. During her master’s degree, she also served as a Teaching Assistant for various courses. After completing her master's degree, she transitioned to a role as a Research Associate in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Khalifa University. Khalifa joined NYUAD in January 2023 as an Associate Instructor of Engineering – Civil Engineering. In fall 2025, Khalifa joined New York University Tandon School of Engineering under the Global PhD Student Fellowship offered by NYUAD. She is conducting her PhD research in the Sustainable and Innovative Transport Demand (SIT-D) lab under the supervision of Elisabetta Cherchi
