Mayada received a BSc degree in Software Engineering from Al Ain University of Science and Technology, a MSc degree in Informatics (Knowledge and Data Management) from the British University in Dubai, which is taught in association with the University of Edinburgh. She received a PhD degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering (majored in Human-Machine Interaction) from the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, which was established in collaboration with the MIT.  

She is currently working as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Social Science Experimental Lab.  Her research focuses on designing and developing approaches and systems which facilitate and promote cooperation between machines and people in repeated interactions.  She also investigates how integrating social principles (used between people to interact with each other) into machines impacts their ability to cooperate with people under various scenarios (including social dilemmas).  She has published several papers in prestigious conferences and journals (including Nature Communications).
