Anil Kumar is a postdoctoral researcher in the Smart Materials Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi, working with Professor Panče Naumov. He received his PhD in Chemistry from Shiv Nadar University, India, following an MSc in Applied Chemistry from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur and a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Delhi. His research interests include flexible organic molecular crystals, electron crystallography, quantum crystallography, charge-density analysis, polymorphism, and structure–property relationships.
Prior to joining NYU Abu Dhabi, Dr. Kumar was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Warsaw, Poland, where he worked on advancing three-dimensional electron diffraction (3D ED) methodologies for quantum crystallography. His work focused on dynamical and aspherical-atom multipole modeling, high-resolution charge-density reconstruction, and integrating periodic DFT calculations to transform electron diffraction into a quantitative structural tool. His doctoral work investigated the structural, energetic, and charge-density origins of polymorphism in bioactive small molecules to understand structure–property–activity relationships.
