Boyu Wang is currently a Postdoctoral Associate at New York University Abu Dhabi. He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and his Bachelor's degree from the South China University of Technology (SCUT), which included a one-year exchange program at Western University sponsored by the China Scholarship Council. Prior to his postdoctoral appointments, Wang worked as a BIM Engineer on the Kai Tak New Acute Hospital project in Hong Kong. His expertise lies at the dynamic intersection of construction management, spatial AI, robotics, and digital twins.

Wang's work integrates multimodal reality capture, AI-enabled 3D scene understanding, BIM-based digital twins, and autonomous robotics to create intelligent systems capable of continuously sensing, analyzing, inspecting, and updating throughout the construction and asset-management lifecycle. He has developed an Urban Renewal Digital Twin Platform in Hong Kong and contributed significantly to industry-supported projects focusing on construction progress monitoring, infrastructure digitalization, and AI-enabled infrastructure inspection, supported by government funding.

In the fields of Scan-to-BIM and AI-enabled 3D environment understanding, he has developed widely recognized methods for automated MEP modeling, semantic segmentation, and scan-vs-BIM verification. His impactful scholarly research has resulted in over 25 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Automation in Construction and Advanced Engineering Informatics, garnering nearly 1,000 citations with an h-index of 15. In recognition of his academic and practical contributions, Wang has received many prestigious accolades, including the Gold Award at the HK CIC AI Awards (2026), the Autodesk Hong Kong BIM Award (2025), a Best Presentation Award at the DFBI Conference, and multiple Best Paper Awards at international conferences such as ICCBEI.
