Reverse Bioengineering Lab

The Kamei Reverse Bioengineering Laboratory pioneers the field of “Reverse Bioengineering,” aiming to reconstruct complete human and animal body systems using advanced stem cell engineering, nano/microengineering, and bioinformatics. Our interdisciplinary research seeks to understand embryonic development and disease mechanisms by integrating engineering innovation with biological insight.

A central focus of our work is the creation of Body-on-a-Chip (BoC) systems that replicate physiological and pathological conditions in vitro, enabling breakthroughs in drug discovery, regenerative medicine, and personalized healthcare. We maintain active international collaborations to accelerate progress in these areas and extend our approaches to wildlife conservation.

Through the convergence of biology, engineering, and computational science, we strive to advance fundamental understanding and develop transformative technologies for human and animal health.
