Enkhnaran Budjav

Enkhnaran (Era) Budjav is a Tamayyuz Research Fellow at the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology at NYU Abu Dhabi, working under the supervision of Youssef Idaghdour. She received her BS in Biology from New York University Abu Dhabi in 2026 and was selected as a CGSB Tamayyuz (Excellence) Research Fellow for 2026–2027.

Budjav's research focuses on systems biology and population multi-omics, with a particular interest in how genetic, environmental, dietary, and microbial factors shape health across diverse populations. As an undergraduate, she worked in the Idaghdour Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi and the Lacruz Lab at NYU College of Dentistry, contributing to research published in Cell Reports. Within the Idaghdour Lab, she conceived and led a 211-person multi-omics cohort study of urban and nomadic Mongolian populations, spanning genomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, and metagenomics data, and led the metabolomics analysis characterizing population-specific metabolic signatures. She has also organized a five-day exome sequencing workshop for 30 Mongolian clinicians and researchers, building local capacity for genomics research. As a Research Fellow, she is now building the first single-cell immune atlas of the Mongolian population.
