Muhammad Arshad works in the core Bioinformatics, and his work involves making use of the computational resources for bioinformatics data analysis. Muhammad is particularly interested in analyzing genetics, genomics, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, phylogenetics, and single-cells data analyses by employing various bioinformatics tools and pipelines. He also has experience in cohort-based longitudinal studies for public health research. Muhammad is also interested in the area of big data, and structural equation modeling such as latent growth model (LGM), latent growth mixture model (LGMM) and latent longitudinal class analysis (LLCA) to predict the health outcome based on the set of variables.
Muhammad grew up in Pakistan where he graduated with a major in Biology. Later, he moved to Canada for Ph.D. training in Molecular Genetics at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver BC. After completing his PhD, Muhammad won a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship in Genomics and Bioinformatics and worked in the Government laboratories at London Ontario Canada. After that, he worked as a Senior Bioinformatician at the University of Calgary Canada where he led bioinformatics and public health data analysis projects prior to joining New York University Abu Dhabi.
I'm involved in at least two projects as follows: -Metagenomics profiling from various environmental sites in the UAE -Studying the metagenomic differences in kids of obese and lean women.
