Brij Bhushan is a Postdoctoral Associate at Genetic Heritage Group and is currently supported by the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology at New York University Abu Dhabi. He earned a BTech (Biotechnology) from SHUATS, India, an MS (Biotechnology and Bioinformatics) from La Trobe University, Australia, and a PhD (Life Sciences) from the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), DRDO, India. His doctoral research focused on the interactions between the microbiome, immunity, and transcriptome among members of the Indian Antarctic Expedition.

His current research focuses on pioneering innovative approaches to understanding host-microbiome interactions. His work at NYU Abu Dhabi involves utilizing advanced computational tools and metagenomics analysis to explore these complex relationships. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where he examined predictors of infant and maternal health in breastfeeding outcomes using multi-omics approaches. His doctoral research in Antarctica investigated the interplay between microbiome, immunity, and transcriptome, contributing valuable insights into these interactions in extreme environments.

Outside the lab, Bhushan is passionate about experimenting in the kitchen, enjoys playing cricket, and is an avid traveler who loves exploring new cultures and experiences.
