Faisal T Thayyullathil

Senior Research Scientist Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: MSc in Biotechnology, Periyar University; PhD, Acharya Nagarjuna

Research Websites: Galadari Lab

Research Areas: Cell Death, Tumor suppression, Cell Signaling, Cancer Biology

Faisal Thayyullathil earned his master’s degree in Biotechnology from Periyar University (India) before joining the Cell Signaling Laboratory at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), UAE University. He completed his PhD in Biotechnology from Acharya Nagarjuna University (India) under the supervision of Professor Sehamuddin Galadari. His doctoral research focused on protein purification and characterization, with particular emphasis on the expression and purification of recombinant proteins relevant to cancer biology.

Following his PhD, Thayyullathil remained in the Cell Signaling Laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher, where he investigated the molecular mechanisms and biological functions of the tumor suppressor protein PAR-4. His work examined PAR-4’s selective cytotoxicity toward cancer cells and its involvement in key signaling pathways associated with cell survival and apoptosis.

In 2017, Thayyullathil joined NYU Abu Dhabi as a Research Scientist. Now serving as a Senior Research Scientist, he continues to study PAR-4 biology, exploring its diverse tumor-suppressive functions and elucidating the regulatory mechanisms that contribute to its therapeutic potential across various cancer models.
