Ala’ Darabseh is a research assistant in Cyber Security and Privacy Lab at NYUAD. She received the Bachelor in Computer Information Systems and the MS in Computer Science from Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST), in 2012, 2015 respectively. She was ranked the salutatorian in her Bachelor studies among all students who graduated in the same batch of the academic year (2011/2012) and the valedictorian in her MS among all graduates of the academic year (2014/2015). She worked as a research assistant at JUST for three years. Her research interests include Software-Defined Systems (SDSys), Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Security, Privacy, Cloud Computing, Parallel Computing, Internet of Things (IoT) and Network security. Ala’ has published and submitted several papers in journals and conferences during her study and work related to SDSys applications.
I'm working on aviation systems security, precisely security and privacy challenges on aircraft communication that based on Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). Lack of security measurements caused by the open nature of ADS-B impressed me to conduct a research on this area. Defining security mechanisms in this domain considered a big challenge with the open nature of ADS-B communication.
