Maryam is currently a research assistant at the Center of Interacting Urban Networks and assists both the center and the Marine Biology lab in their research. She is completing her MS in environmental science and policy at Johns Hopkins University and holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and sustainability from Zayed University. For her undergrad research, she looked into the impacts of cold stress and acidification on the photosynthetic efficiency of two Gulf corals.
Maryam is enthusiastic about urban ecology, sustainable urban development, environmental peacebuilding, energy & environmental security, and nexus approaches. She aims to bridge the gap between local policymaking and scientific research.
