The Mahmoud Hammad Collection
Syrian artist Mahmoud Hammad (1923-1988)
We partner with artists, families, galleries, and institutions globally to digitize materials related to modern Arab art history. These materials are donated, loaned, or digitized on-site and then returned to their owners. Digital files are preserved by NYU Library's Digital Technology Services.
The archive features artist writings, journals, exhibition materials, and photographs. Publicly licensed materials can be accessed online through the NYU Archival Collections repository, while unlicensed works are available at al Mawrid Arab Center for the Study of Art at NYU Abu Dhabi.
To access materials at al Mawrid, complete the Access Request form, which outlines usage terms and conditions.
