Stefanos Georgiadis is an applied mathematician with a background in the modeling and analysis of fluid systems using nonlinear partial differential equations. His research spans both theoretical and computational approaches to understand complex dynamics in fluids and environmental systems.
Georgiadis completed his PhD in a co-tutelle program between Vienna University of Technology and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, where his work focused on the thermodynamic consistency and rigorous mathematical analysis of systems of multicomponent gases. He is currently a Postdoctoral Associate at NYU Abu Dhabi, transitioning into a more applied role with a focus on computational modeling for oceanic and atmospheric sciences. His projects explore fluid dynamics in environmental contexts, including plankton ecosystems and geophysical fluid dynamics.
Before joining NYUAD, Georgiadis was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Università degli Studi dell'Aquila, where he worked on theoretical analysis of compressible fluid systems.
Outside of research, Georgiadis creates short, accessible videos explaining concepts in mathematics and physics, which he shares on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, under the name The Curious Bit.
