Christian Lewes is a highly experienced diver and technician with an extensive background in marine operations across various locations, including the Red Sea, the Caribbean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Gulf, and other regions within the Arabian Peninsula. With over 15 years of experience, Lewes initially pursued a career in professional recreational and commercial diving before transitioning into environmental consultancy and scientific diving. This shift was driven by his passion for making a meaningful impact on the environment.
Having resided in the United Arab Emirates for over 17 years, Lewes has developed in-depth knowledge of the region’s ecosystems, including its coastal waters and expansive deserts. As a certified commercial RPAS pilot, he has also conducted terrestrial surveys of the surrounding landscapes.
Currently, Lewes is a member of the Mubadala ACCESS team, where he is responsible for maintaining and operating research vessels and equipment. In addition, he actively participates in fieldwork and provides expertise to the research team at NYU Abu Dhabi.
