New York University Abu Dhabi today announced three key administrative appointments: Larry L. Fabian as executive director of operations development, Renee Dugan as director of admissions, and Sunil Khambaswadkar as director of human resources. All three will be based in Abu Dhabi.
NYU Abu Dhabi will consist of a highly selective liberal arts college, distinctive graduate programs, and a world center for advanced research and scholarship all fully integrated with each other and connected to NYU in New York. Together, NYU New York and NYU Abu Dhabi will form the backbone of a unique Global Network University, with faculty and students from either New York or Abu Dhabi spending semesters away at one or more of the numerous study abroad sites NYU maintains on five continents. NYU Abu Dhabi s first students will arrive in fall 2010.
As executive director for operations development, Mr. Fabian is setting up initial operations for New York University Abu Dhabi and the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute, and is closely involved in the development of the interim campus and the preparations for the permanent campus.
Ms. Dugan, who was most recently director of admissions for King s Academy in Jordan, will be responsible for recruiting a first class for the opening of New York University Abu Dhabi in September 2010. Her appointment is effective Nov. 1, 2008.
Mr. Khambaswadkar who was director of human resources worldwide for Algorithmics, an enterprise risk management software provider with offices in 18 countries - will be responsible for developing and putting in place hiring processes and faculty and staff benefits and support systems.

Since 2006, Renee Dugan has been director of admissions for King s Academy in Madaba, Jordan. Prior to that, she had been associate director of executive programs at NYU s Leonard N. Stern School of Business for five years, where she was involved in admissions, recruitment, and marketing. Before 2001, she held a number of marketing related posts, including four years with Pearson Education. She received her BA in international relations from the University of Oregon in 1994, and her MPA in non-profit management from NYU s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
Since 1999, Mr. Fabian has been vice president and executive secretary of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Cairo. From 1996 to 1998, he was vice president for corporate development at Shorebank Corporation. He has extensive foreign policy experience, with posts at the Council on Foreign Relations, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the Brookings Institution. He received his BA and MA from Catholic University, and his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
Mr. Khambaswadkar joined Algorithmics in 1998 and has been director of human resources worldwide since 2001. From 1995 to 1998, he was the human resources manager at Rapp Collins Worldwide. He received his Bachelor of Commerce and his Master s degree (specializing in human resources management) from the University of Poona; he has also received his Certified Human Resources Professional certification from the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario, Canada.
