Student Dialogue: “Decolonizing our Minds: Western and Non-Western Mental Health”

Open House

WHEN October 20, 2020
5:30-7 PM WHERE Zoom WHO Cultural Programs and NYU Abu Dhabi Sufara’a Open to the Public

Open to students only.

NYU Abu Dhabi “Sufara’a” Cultural Ambassadors warmly invites you to the 8th annual Sufara’a Open House. It is a space for students from different universities to network and engage in enriching dialogue and meaningful activities in regard to the current “new normal” we all live in.

Join our last dialogue on mental health in the UAE and help us investigate the claims that mental health is a Western construct. We invite you to join us in considering an approach of bringing together culture and mental health, introducing the concept of indigenous psychology. We will focus on exploring how such concepts can help decolonize discussions around mental health in the UAE, keeping in mind the influences of culture, religion, language, media, and identity.
