Parent and Family Marhaba
What is Parent and Family Marhaba?
Orientation at NYU Abu Dhabi is called Marhaba, meaning "welcome" in Arabic. Parent and Family Marhaba is designed to welcome families and guardians of first-year students to the NYUAD community.
Parent and Family Marhaba offers a range of virtual sessions to help familiarize families with NYU Abu Dhabi and learn what to expect from their student’s first semester at University. Parent and Family Marhaba will include conversations with University senior leadership, faculty, and representatives from the Student Health Center.
Registering for Virtual Parent and Family Marhaba 2022
Parent and Family Marhaba will take place online July 30-31, 2022. Registration is free of charge. All sessions are optional so families can pick and choose topics they are interested in. Zoom links for sessions will be shared via email with participants who have signed up. Recordings for some sessions will be shared with the family via email and will be available for a limited time after the program.
An in-person Parent and Family open day will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the NYU Abu Dhabi campus. This day will include:
- Parent and Family Reception
- Optional campus tours
- Residential Housing Open Hours
Families are only able to visit student rooms during the opening hours. Parents and guardians are welcome to help students move in and visit their assigned room during the open day hours on August 21.
Visitors are responsible for covering the cost of their food and transport to and from campus during the Parent and Family Marhaba. NYUAD will provide light refreshments at the reception on August 21. Any activities not organized by NYUAD as a part of Parent and Family Marhaba are the responsibility of the participant.
Nirvana Travel, NYUAD's official travel agent, is available to assist parents and families with flights, hotel bookings, and visas to the UAE. There are many options and the team can assist with location, cost, and proximity to campus.
