NYU Abu Dhabi provides PhD Fellowships in Sociology for students looking to make a global impact. Students in our PhD program work on exciting research projects under the guidance of world-class faculty, in a global network of scholars, with access to cutting-edge facilities. The Global PhD Fellowships are offered in collaboration with the NYU Graduate School of Arts and Science (NYU Sociology) and are hosted in the Social Research and Public Policy (SRPP) program at NYU Abu Dhabi.
These Fellowships are particularly suitable for scholars interested in doing locally relevant (i.e., relevant to the MENA region) work in sociology, social research, public policy, demography, anthropology, and computational social science. We welcome candidates who may have particular interests and/or connections with Abu Dhabi, the UAE, the Gulf, and the broader MENA region, and/or may have an interest in conducting fieldwork in the area and/or working under the guidance of a specific faculty member at NYU Abu Dhabi.
The program generally involves one to two years of classwork at NYU New York, followed by three to four years of research at NYU Abu Dhabi. If selected, the doctorate is fully funded under the NYU Abu Dhabi Global PhD Student Fellowship.
