Ahmad Bin Thaneya is an Assistant Professor and Emerging Scholar of Civil and Urban Engineering at NYU Abu Dhabi. He received his PhD and MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and his BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to joining NYUAD, he was also a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. His doctoral work explored reducing human exposure to fine particulate matter using infrastructure optimization models.
Bin Thaneya's work integrates systems modeling to advance environmental and public health goals. His research spans a broad range of topics, including infrastructure system management, air quality engineering, human exposure assessment, climate change mitigation, and life-cycle assessment. His work has been published in leading environmental journals, and he has supported projects for major US environmental agencies, including the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the US Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency–Energy (ARPA-E)
