As Vice Provost for Research Policies and Governance, Eric advances NYUAD’s academic excellence by supporting the Provost and Deans in overseeing: 

  • Research policies and governance
  • Research funding and spending guidelines and processes
  • Research assessment metrics
  • Academic space allocation 
  • Research ethics, governance, and compliance including the human research protection program, animal care and use, biosafety, and research safety, and related committees including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Research Ethics Committee (REC), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)  
  • Faculty Financial Conflict of Interest and Commitment process
  • Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) program
  • Research integrity and misconduct

Eric serves as the Institutional Official for Research Policy Compliance at NYUAD, the Provost Liaison for Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO), and as a member of the Collaborations Group.  

He works closely with the Deans, Senior Vice Provost for Research, the Office of Academic Appointments, the Office of Academic Policies and Governance, Pre- and Post-Award, Legal and Compliance, Lab Operations, Campus Planning and Projects, and Environmental Health and Safety. 

Eric Hamilton
Vice Provost, Research Policies and Governance

Eric Hamilton holds an MA in Security Studies from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a PhD in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Southern California. His research and teaching interests focus on international relations theory, international security, US foreign and national security policy, and political and social theory.
