Assistant Director, Pre-Award
The Office of Pre-award and Contracts is responsible for assisting faculty with their external research grant applications and awards. The Office assists faculty in finding funding, budget, proposal development, and liaisons with the Office of Sponsored Programs in New York. The Office also facilitates formalized research collaborations with external entities through Research contracts, subawards, or collaboration agreements. The Office also manages the Research Enhancement Fund application cycle and Publication Grants and assists the Research Institutes in the annual RFP process.
Dr. Kathleen Furr joined NYUAD following fifteen years in global research experience in administration and policymaking for both universities and government agencies. She has directed cradle-to-grave grant management and compliance administration at major universities and funding agents, with ten years of experience working in the Arab Gulf.
Prior to her role at NYUAD she served as Director of Research Administration & Services at the American University of Sharjah and held Director positions at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, and the University of Illinois. In addition, she handled research at Texas A&M University in Doha, Qatar and as government sponsor during her tenure as a founding member of the National Research Foundation of UAE.
To give back to her professional community, she has held a variety of positions on committees within her institutions, and at a variety of professional organizations. She is a staunch supporter of the holistic development of research to produce outstanding contributors to the regional, national, and international knowledge economy.
Dr. Kathleen Furr completed her doctoral degree in Higher Education Policy & Leadership from SMU in Dallas, TX. She has degrees from Oklahoma State University in Political Science and International Studies and certificate from the American University of Cairo, Egypt.
