Associate Director, Research
NYU Abu Dhabi is a world-class research university that aims to foster quality research, scholarship, and creative activity that engages critical 21st century challenges resulting in fundamental advances, new discoveries, technological developments, and innovative solutions.
The Office of Research provides key administrative and infrastructural support to NYUAD faculty and researchers. It enables current research activity with shared research facilities, operations and high performance computing. It grows research through pre-award support for faculty in seeking and securing external grants. And it fosters research collaboration, impact, and capacity building through research outreach and the Kawader program.
The NYUAD Research Institute offers substantial and sustained funding to support large, multi-year centers and labs that address questions of global and national (UAE) significance, and is the organizational and administrative structure for new and existing research centers. Funding opportunities are offered to leading faculty members and researchers from across disciplines to carry out creative scholarship and high-level research on a range of complex issues with a depth, scale, and longevity that otherwise would not be possible.
Sehamuddin Galadari provides strategic oversight on the facilitation and growth of NYUAD’s research enterprise — including the Research Institute, research labs, Core Technology Platforms, and High Performance Computing.
Having joined NYUAD in 2017, he brings a wealth of scientific and administrative experience and strength that contributes to positioning NYUAD as a leading research university with a liberal arts core that is at the forefront of addressing complex issues of both national (UAE) and global significance.
Prior to joining NYUAD, Galadari was Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies at UAE University, and before that Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University.
Galadari leads an active research program primarily focused on cell death and cancer biology. He has contributed significantly to biomedical research development in the UAE. Galadari holds a PhD in biochemistry from Imperial College London.
