Inclusion and Equity

The Office of Inclusion and Equity (OIE) is responsible for creating organizational excellence through true diversity and inclusion. The goal is for NYU Abu Dhabi to be the leading institution that fosters inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity (IDBE) in the classroom and workplace.

I believe diversity work is most effectively approached through the positive intersections of inclusion, diversity, belonging and equity.

Fatiah Touray, Senior Director, The Office of Inclusion and Equity

Excellence.  Opportunities.  Innovation.

The OIE primarily serves faculty, staff, academic support, post-doctoral, and research employees and provides leadership, consultation, and programming to strengthen policies and structures and collaborates with various stakeholders to help NYUAD become a more diverse and inclusive institution.

Mission

The OIE aims to establish and sustain a thriving inclusive community at NYU Abu Dhabi that supports, fosters, and engages the research and intellectual curiosity of our diverse students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni.

Vision

We are a dynamic global community where inclusion and academic excellence are interdependent. Our teaching, pedagogy, research, and emerging leadership creates and promotes globally relevant productions of new knowledge to prepare our students for a diverse, complex, and ever-changing world.

Services

NYU Abu Dhabi’s commitment to building and strengthening a university-wide culture of inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity led to the creation of the Office of Inclusion and Equity. As part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor, we provide expert consultation, tools, resources, and innovative strategies to help guide NYUAD leaders, faculty, and staff alike towards a more inclusive future based on sustainable practices.

We do this through:

Inclusion, Equity, and Action Committee (IEAC)

The IEAC is the action-oriented body that assists and guides the administration in implementing commitments and recommendations, and in achieving a greater state of transparency in discussing race, diversity, belonging, and equity on campus.

NYUAD Accountability Framework

The NYU Abu Dhabi Accountability Framework aims to ensure that the University's commitments to integrate inclusion, diversity, belonging and equity exist within all of NYU Abu Dhabi's programs in a tangible and sustainable manner.

Definitions and Terminology

NYU Abu Dhabi's definitions of IDBE, developed by the Office of Global Inclusion, are shared across the NYU Global Network and can be found on the University's dedicated IDBE page.

Resources

The Office of Inclusion and Equity (OIE) is committed to building and strengthening a university-wide culture of IDBE.  We would like to share a wealth of articles, books,  academic research, insightful talks, and information produced with the goal of educating our community on these crucial topics. We have curated a selection of resources and will update these pages periodically. Dedicated Resources are available for faculty, staff and students.
