I believe the true success of diversity work is basedon the positive interplay of inclusion, diversity, a sense of belonging, equitable principles, access, and accountability. It's the complex intersection where we find the heart of a truly inclusive community, society, and world.
Inclusion and Equity
Excellence. Opportunities. Innovation.
NYU Abu Dhabi’s (NYUAD) commitment to building and strengthening a university-wide culture of inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity, and access/accessibility (IDBEA) led to the creation of the Office of Inclusion and Equity (OIE). As part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor, the OIE provides expert consultation, resources, tools, training sessions, and innovative strategies to help guide NYUAD’s leaders, faculty, and staff alike towards a more inclusive future based on sustainable practices.
The OIE is responsible for leading and advancing NYUAD's implementation of practices, programs, and policies, and developing people that foster inclusion and equity in our workplace and learning environment. Primarily serving faculty, staff, academic and research staff, and post-docs, the OIE also works closely with the Division of Student Affairs to ensure alignment and synergy with the IDBEA strategy for students.
A fundamental tenet of NYUAD is the conviction that interaction with new ideas and people who are different is valuable and necessary, and a broad and diverse base of research activity is required for research excellence, but to do so meaningfully, requires a university-wide commitment to the values of inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity, and access/accessibility (IDBEA) in which every individual plays a key role through their own awareness, behaviors, and contributions.
Mission
The OIE aims to establish and sustain a thriving inclusive community at NYUAD that supports, fosters, and engages the research and intellectual curiosity of our diverse students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni.
Vision
We are a dynamic global community where inclusion and academic excellence are interdependent. Our teaching, pedagogy, research, and emerging leadership creates and promotes globally relevant production of new knowledge and prepares our students for a diverse, complex, and ever-changing world.
