The overarching goal of NYUAD Wireless is to establish a globally recognized research and innovation hub, dedicated to addressing key challenges towards limitless connectivity and shaping the wireless networks of the future.

The telecommunications sector is a key pillar of the UAE’s Economic Vision 2030, driving economic growth and diversification. Substantial investments in telecom infrastructure underscore the need for a robust wireless R&D ecosystem to stimulate local innovation, reduce dependency on imports, and address national priorities. NYUAD Wireless aims to establish itself as a leading player within this emerging ecosystem, spearheading the development of enabling technologies for 6G and beyond. These advancements will support the creation of a resilient telecommunications infrastructure — an essential foundation for the digital economy, which is a strategic priority for Abu Dhabi and the UAE under the Digital Economy Strategy.

Center Objectives

• Creating an institutional platform and organizational framework for collaborative research efforts between faculty members and researchers from NYU Abu Dhabi and New York campuses with complementary expertise, to pioneer advancements in wireless communications for 6G networks and beyond.
  
  
• Collaborating closely with the industry to bridge the gap between theory and practice and act as a catalyst to enhance the UAE’s regional and global competitiveness in the telecommunications industry.
  
  
• Building human capital and addressing the regional shortage in the wireless field through comprehensive education and training programs for students and early career investigators.
  
  
• Participating and contributing to wireless standardization activities in collaboration with industry, regulatory bodies, and national/international decision makers.
